Georgia State University Enters into Agreement with Cisen Pharmaceutical to Develop Oncology Compounds

Georgia State University (US) has signed an agreement with Cisen Pharmaceutical to develop compounds to treat cancer. Under the agreement, the university and Cisen will carry out clinical trials and develop targeted therapie. Some types of cancer suppress p53 levels as a form of self-protection, and Dr. Wang has developed compounds that remove cancer's ability to suppress p53. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Georgia State University Announces Director Changes

Georgia State University has named Charlie Cobb as its new director of athletics. Cobb will join the Panthers from Appalachian State University, where he's been for the past 9 years. He replaces Cheryl Levick, who stepped down in May to become special assistant to Georgia State President Mark Becker.

Georgia State University Announces Executive Changes

Georgia State University tapped its Deputy General Counsel Bharath Parthasarathy as interim director of athletics. A national search is now underway to replace Cheryl Levick, who resigned in May. Parthasarathy has extensive experience with Athletics operations and programs, worked closely with the department on policies and legal issues and developed strong working relationships within the organization. Becker added he expects to name a new athletic director by the end of the summer. Parthasarathy is a frequent speaker on intercollegiate athletics, higher education and the modern role of in ­house counsel. He began his legal career as an associate at Alston & Bird LLP.
