Tollgrade Communications, Inc. and Lantiq announced that they have partnered to offer broadband carriers a best-in-class, seamless and standardized line testing solution for Next Generation Networks (NGN). The solution combines Lantiq's MELT chipsets with Tollgrade's LoopCare Operations Support System (OSS) software and allows telcos to migrate field proven and mature test expertise to the requirements of new all-IP networks. The combination of Tollgrade's LoopCare software and Lantiq's Metallic Line Testing (MELT) enables broadband service providers to execute seamless DSL testing that starts at the chip and ends with Tollgrade's trusted fault diagnostics and analysis software. Half of all existing broadband lines in use are tested using Tollgrade's OSS software and more than 30 million shipped MELT lines use the Lantiq chipset. With this partnership, customers benefit from the market leading expertise position of both companies as they migrate to Next Generation Networks to improve DSL performance. Combined solution from Tollgrade and Lantiq eliminates the need to compromise speed for accuracy of testing, allowing broadband service providers to confidently build out their NGNs without losing the automation, accuracy and availability needed by customer service and repair organizations. Market leading MELT chipsets and Tollgrade LoopCare OSS software future-proof investments when migrating to new DSL networks. Lantiq Introduces New Fiber-to-the-Distribution Point Solution

Lantiq announced commercial availability of VINAX(TM) dp, an application-optimized Fiber to the Distribution Point (FTTdp) chipset. With the new offering, the company provides Telcos and DSL Internet Service Providers (ISPs) with an immediate solution to counter competitive offerings from Cable providers and to meet network performance goals set by government broadband initiatives. The Lantiq VINAX dp chipset enables aggregated 300 Mbps over VDSL2 at distances up to 200m between a customer premise gateway and the fiber network distribution point. Based on company's carrier-grade VDSL2 chips developed for line card applications, the new chip set operates in industrial temperature ranges and the low power consumption of the FTTdp unit enables installation in outdoor boxes with passive cooling. FTTdp is available and is a cost-effective alternative to Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network topologies for many broadband access installations. FTTH requires the fiber to be deployed all the way into a customer's premise, which is costly and may not be practicable in many scenarios. Since it can be line-powered from the customer premise, the FTTdp unit can be placed conveniently in carrier managed locations, while on the subscriber end, the standard VDSL CPE and power feeder is self-installed. Key features of the VINAX(TM)dp: Tightly integrated Lantiq carrier-class VDSL2 and GPON (FALCa ON) solution; 300 Mbps aggregated data rate with G.INP (retransmission) downstream and upstream; Based on mature, future proof (VINAX CO platform) technology with demonstrated interoperability on both ends for GPON and VDSL links. Typical power consumption is 2.7 Watt for the VINAX dp chipset. The entire system consumes less than 6 Watts -- including VDSL, GPON, DC/DC converter and all other active and passive components.
Lantiq Announces Availability of Joint Reference Platform with Intel

Lantiq announced the availability of a joint reference platform with Intel for fixed LTE Broadband Router designs, offering up to 300 Mbps using Intel’s latest Cat6 capable LTE platform. The co-developed reference platform combines the Intel XMM 7260 LTE communications platform with Lantiq’s GRX330 Communications Processor and perfectly addresses the growing market demand for fixed 4G/LTE broadband services. Thanks to the unique architecture, the joint reference design enables customers to offer sophisticated and market leading broadand gateways and routers with high LTE throughput at low CPU load. Key Features of the new fixed LTE Reference Design are An Intel designed M.2 module based on the Intel XMM 7260 platform delivers LTE-Advanced features including flexible carrier aggregation-up to 40Mhz with support for up to 23 CA combinations in one SKU–and category 6 speeds (300 Mbps theoretical peak downlink speeds). The 7260 also provides global communications, supporting more than 30 3GPP bands (21 bands simultaneous in a single SKU) and global network standards (LTE FDD/TDD, WCDMA/HSPA+, TD-SCDMA/TD-HSPA/EDGE).
