Saguna Networks Ltd. Key Developments

Saguna Networks and Vimmi Announce Partnership

Saguna Networks and Vimmi have announced a partnership to bring to market a Content Delivery solution for mobile operators based on the Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) standard. The joint solution features Vimmi Mobile Delivery Network (MDN) and Saguna Open-RAN MEC platform. Mobile networks are becoming video networks. With video playing the leading role in terms of traffic and subscriber volumes, Mobile Operators need a scalable solution to deliver high-quality, immersive video experiences. By deploying video services at the radio edge, in close proximity to mobile users, MEC enables the deployment of a powerful video delivery infrastructure for mobile networks. The joint solution from Vimmi and Saguna address this market opportunity. The Saguna Open-RAN MEC platform that creates an open ecosystem for 3rd party applications inside mobile Radio Access Network (RAN). The ETSI MEC standard-based solution enables mobile operators to quickly and effectively deploy new revenue-generating services for Internet-of-things (IoT), cyber security, virtual probes, content delivery and augmented reality applications. Integrated with the Saguna Open-RAN MEC platform, Vimmi's MDN solution uses grid computing and machine learning technologies that enables delivery of premium video quality at a dramatically lower operational cost. The solution reduces 70%-90% of mobile backhaul traffic while improving QoE. It reduces Round Trip Time for Video and IoT Applications achieving 5G performance targets in 4G networks. The companies will showcase their MEC-based solution featuring Saguna Open-RAN MEC platform and Vimmi MDN at the upcoming Mobile World Congress.

Saguna Networks Collaborates with Wind River to Validate the Saguna Open-RAN MEC Solution

Saguna Networks is collaborating with Wind River to validate the Saguna Open-RAN MEC solution operating on Wind River Titanium Server as the carrier grade platform. Titanium Server is a commercial-ready NFV infrastructure software platform that enables service providers to deploy virtualized services faster, at lower cost, and with guaranteed uptime. By validating and pre-integrating their hardware and software offerings with Titanium Server, companies can deliver optimized solutions for service providers and telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs) deploying infrastructure based on NFV.

AMD and Saguna Collaborate on Low-Power High-Performance Mobile Edge Computing Solutions

AMD and Saguna have collaborated to create scalable and economical Mobile Edge Computing platforms for powering time-sensitive and bandwidth-intensive Internet of Things and mobile data and video applications. With the advent of IoT and the need to connect increasing numbers of connected devices, mobile networks face a tough scalability challenge. The need to secure the large volumes of data and content generated by these connected devices exacerbates the situation. Addressing these challenges, AMD and Saguna are working to help mobile operators and system integrators transform the centric mobile network architecture with distributed edge computing operating inside the Radio Access Network, in close proximity to the end user or thing. The pre-integrated platform design enables network vendors and system integrators to scale and secure mobile networks while creating a flexible MEC design that reduces time-to-market for developing and deploying new MEC services. The joint initiatives are based on Saguna Open-RAN MEC platform running on the high-performance AMD Embedded R-Series processor. The AMD R-Series is a system-on-chip that combines GPU and CPU processing resources that can simultaneously execute IPSec security, control, and data processing. By packaging these capabilities in low-power processing architecture and bringing them to the edge of mobile networks, AMD processing can dramatically improve performance and increase security while helping reduce operating costs. The Saguna Open-RAN MEC platform creates an open ecosystem and long-term growth engine inside the mobile RAN. The ETSI MEC standard-based solution enables mobile operators to quickly and effectively deploy new revenue generating services for content delivery, Internet-of-things connectivity, retail and enterprise applications and more. With fully virtualized software architecture, Saguna Open-RAN reduces CAPEX and OPEX promoting the adoption network function virtualization.
