Baylor Health Care System Adopts lifeIMAGE for Electronic Medical Image Sharing services
Jun 21 13
Baylor Health Care System (BHCS) recently selected lifeIMAGE and has completed an initial rollout of its electronic medical image sharing services. Throughout the next several months, these services will be deployed across the BHCS enterprise to give clinicians and medical staff access to imaging studies performed outside of its network. Clinical, informatics, IT, Access Services and marketing users at Baylor University Medical Center, The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano, and Baylor All Saints Medical Center began using lifeIMAGE in May. Other BHCS sites will join throughout the summer and fall. With lifeIMAGE, physicians on Baylor’s medical staffs can view outside studies as easily as those performed at a Baylor facility. Ingestion of outside exams is decentralized to clinics and physicians’ offices. Once loaded into lifeIMAGE, studies and reports can be shared with other users on the network. When requested, an automated process makes it simple for physicians to import studies into Baylor’s permanent PACS, after which they are available in Baylor’s electronic health record (EHR).
