Keys Hotels announced appointment of two new General Managers. The hotel appointed Somusundaram Thevar and Ajit Abraham as General Managers to head its hotels in Mumbai and Ludhiana respectively. Somusundaram, has spent over 15 years in the industry. He began his career as a trainee cook with the Oberoi and has since worked with some of the most renowned names in the hospitality space such as the Taj and the Royal Caribbean, gaining experience in all aspects of Food & Beverage, hotel operations, administration, budgeting and statutory compliance processes. Whitbread Is In Talks To Acquire Portfolio Of Berggruen Hotels

Whitbread PLC (LSE:WTB) is in talks to acquire or merge the portfolio of Berggruen Hotels Private Limited. The management of 'Premier Inn', a mid-market hotel brand owned by Whitbread, ' is understood to be in very advanced stage of negotiations with Berggruen Hotels to either acquire or merge or enter into a joint venture arrangement for India operations. While details of the arrangement have been kept under the wraps, industry sources said a deal between Premier Inn and Berggruen has been finalised already. Sanjay Sethi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Berggruen Hotels, said, "Efforts have been on to consolidate as much as possible and we have had some discussions, but nothing has fructified as yet." When contacted by Daily News & Analysis (India), V V Giri, Regional Director-Operations (South Asia), Premier Inn, declined to comment.
