Urban Land Institute Announces Executive Appointments

Andy Martin, senior partner at Strutt &Parker, has been appointed as chairman of the Urban Land Institute UK. Martin will serve on a voluntary basis until June 2015. He has been a Urban Land Institute member for more than 15 years. The Urban Land Institute has been implementing a planned leadership succession drive, with Roger Orf, partner at Apollo Asset Management, becoming the new chair of ULI Europe and Lynn Thurber, a non-executive chairwoman of LaSalle Investment Management becoming global ULI chairwoman. Martin will be tasked with driving ULI's expertise in the planning, design and development of economically sustainable communities, and to increase membership of ULI in the UK.

Lynn Thurber, chairman of LaSalle Investment Management in Chicago, has been named the new chairman of the Urban Land Institute. Thurber will serve on a voluntary basis for a two-year term that ends June 30, 2015. As ULI chairman, Thurber will focus on three areas: pursuing a new ULI initiative related to building healthy places through a range of ULI programs, activities and products; assessing and strengthening the institute's global impact; and more tightly integrating all of ULI's networks for enhanced knowledge-sharing. These networks include the institute's district and national councils, which serve members at the regional and local level; and its council program, a knowledge-sharing exchange organized by property sector subject areas.
