United States Commission on Civil Rights Appoints Mauro Albert Morales as New Staff Director

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights announced that President Obama has designated and a unanimous Commission has confirmed Mauro Albert Morales as Staff Director of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Staff Director Mauro Albert Morales was sworn in on April 28, 2015 at the Commission. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Morales previously served the Obama Administration as an Assistant Director in the Office of Public Engagement at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), a position he held since 2014. From 2009 to 2014, he served as Attorney Advisor in the Office of the General Counsel at OPM. Before joining the Administration, Mr. Morales founded The Morales Law Group in 2006, where he served as Managing Partner until 2009.

United States Commission on Civil Rights noted the appointment of 12 members to the Kansas State Advisory Committee. It appointed Elizabeth Kronk Warner of Lawrence (Chair), Laurie M. Johnson of Manhattan, Michael J. Abrams of Overland Park, Robert L. Mandel of Prairie Village, Janell N. Avila of Overland Park, Phyllis E. Nolan of Louisburg, Mildred A. Edwards of Topeka, Kirk P. Perucca of Prairie Village, Marsha L. Frey of Manhattan, Charles S. Scott, Jr. of Shawnee, Steven P. Gieber of Abilene and Unoke R. Ewa of Kansas City as members to the Kansas State Advisory Committee.
