CEZ to Sue Skoda JS over Further Compensation

CEZ will sue Skoda JS over further compensation in connection with poor checks of piping at the Dukovany nuclear power plant. Last year, CEZ sued Skoda JS over compensation worth CZK 611 million. The amount of compensation CEZ will demand this time will be similar to the last year's one. Skoda JS claims it feels no responsibility for any damage caused during the check. An inspection of documentation conducted at Dukovany in 2015 revealed that X-ray pictures of welds were of poor quality. CEZ's power plants' facilities were administered by Skoda JS. It, however, used to hire an external supplier to perform checks of welds. Due to repeated checks that had to be carry out subsequently, three out of Dukovany's four units were offline while only one was generating power from mid-September to the end of December.
