CCU Eyes Student Housing Facilities

Coastal Carolina University (CCU) plans to acquire student housing facilities. CCU will issue approximately $94.5 million of series 2015 higher education revenue bonds. The fixed-rate bonds are expected to sell competitively on or around February 10, 2015. Bond proceeds will be used to acquire existing student housing facilities that CCU currently leases from the CCU Student Housing Foundation and to pay associated costs of issuance.
Coastal Carolina University Partners with Clemson University to Launch Technology Incubator in Downtown Conway

Coastal Carolina University in partnership with Clemson University is launching a technology incubator in downtown Conway. The Conway Innovation Center (CIC), to be located at 1119 Third Ave., will attract and assist in the development of local commercial enterprises. While activities are beginning in the center, the CIC is scheduled to formally open later in the fall of 2014. The center will be administered by the 5thT Innovation Group, a nonprofit corporation formed by Coastal Carolina University, Horry Georgetown Technical College and the Conway community. '5thT' refers to the enterprises that have driven the Grand Strand region's economy through its history: timber, turpentine, tobacco, tourism and, most recently, technology.
Coastal Carolina University Alumni Association Board Announces New Board Members Appointments

Members of the Coastal Carolina University Alumni Association Board have elected three new members. Alicia Grier of Myrtle Beach, Mark A. Singleton of Conway and Treda Smith Grayson of Bowie, Md., join 18 other members of the alumni board. Grier is a senior accountant for Integra Fabrics. Singleton is retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, from which he received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Grayson is an aquatic biologist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
