Media Broadcast and Hispasat Sign TV Distribution Deal

Media Broadcast Satellite has announced an agreement with Hispasat to provide TV distribution services throughout Europe, North Africa and the Middle East (EMEA). Under the terms of the deal, Media Broadcast Satellite will join the teleport operators offering Hispasat's Shared Digital Platforms solution from the 30-degree west orbital position. The system facilitates the transmission of individual audiovisual channels within digital multiplexes, sharing the carrier with other television operators and allowing customers to take full advantage of the power of the satellite transponders, even if they are not used entirely.
Hispasat And JSAT Reportedly Looking To Buy Asia Broadcast Satellite

Hispasat, S.A. and JSAT Corp. are seeking to buy Asia Broadcast Satellite Limited, Financial Times reported. The Financial Times is reporting that most of the world's larger satellite operators have looked at Asia Broadcast Satellite, including SES, S.A. (BDL:008808732). The Financial Times says that bids were entered last week. Goldman Sachs is handling the process for Permira Advisers Ltd., which owns Asia Broadcast Satellite.
Hispasat Teams with Quantis Subsidiary for Satellite Broadband in North Africa

Hispasat has entered a partnership with Quantis and its Moroccan subsidiary Nortis to provide satellite broadband services in North Africa. Per the agreement, Quantis signed for Ka-band capacity on the upcoming Hispasat 30W-6 satellite, formerly known as Hispasat 1F, until the end of its useful life, estimated at 15 years, at a cost of approximately $137 million. Under construction by SSL, the satellite will provide coverage over North Africa, especially Morocco, after launching in 2017. The service, which Quantis will offer through its own platform, uses Hispasat satellite capacity, which covers the waters of the Maghreb, from the southernmost latitudes of the region to the most central areas of the Mediterranean.
