BASF Petronas Chemicals Sdn Bhd Invests Additional MYR 2 Billion in Pahang

BASF Petronas Chemicals Sdn Bhd has invested an additional MYR 2 billion for the development of three new plants at its integrated petrochemical complex here. This brings total investments at the site to MYR 5.4 billion. He also said the three new plants, namely an Integrated Aroma Ingredients Complex, and a 2--Ethylhexanoic Acid and Highly Reactive Polyisobutene plant, will gradually start operations from the fourth quarter of 2016. The investments will also translate into the creation of 140 high-value direct jobs and spin-off opportunities for over 1,000 local contractors.

BASF Petronas Chemicals has achieved the mechanical completion of the citral and citronellol facilities and associated infrastructure at its integrated chemical site in Kuantan, Malaysia. The newly completed facilities will produce citral, a key intermediate for aroma ingredients, as well as citronellol to meet the growing demand for citral-based products in the flavor and fragrance industry.

BASF PETRONAS Chemicals has started constructing its new 30,000 tonne/year 2-ethylhexanoic acid (2-EHAacid) plant in Kuantan, Malaysia. The new facility, located within the company's integrated production complex in Gebeng, Kuantan, is expected to be commissioned in 2016.
