Alitalia Denies Merger Possibility With Meridiana

Alitalia - Compagnia Aerea Italiana S.p.A. has denied in a statement repeated media reports suggesting a possible merger with sector player Meridiana fly S.p.A. (BIT:MEF). The statement read, "With regard to the rumours which have repeatedly appeared in the national and international press in the last few days, Alitalia categorically denies any possibility of a merger with the company Meridiana." Alitalia ruled the rumors as "completely made up and unfounded". Roberto Scaramella, Chief Executive Officer of Meridiana, also ruled out the possibility for a merger with Alitalia.
