EDF Polska S.A. Key Developments

Polish Government To Stop Sell And Splitting Of EDF Polska

Poland will not agree to the French utility Electricite de France SA (ENXTPA:EDF) selling its Polish energy assets separately to two foreign suitors, the energy ministry said on December 14. The decision is likely intended to open way for a state-controlled consortium to step in and close the deal. EDF Polska S.A. has been in talks with Czech/Slovak energy holding Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding, a.s. over its Rybnik power plant, while its heat and power installations are the subject of negotiations with Australian investment fund IFM Investors Pty Ltd. In order to carry out the sales, however, EDF needs consent from the Polish government to split EDF Polska.

EdF's Polish Assets Put Up For Sale

Poland's Energy Minister Krzysztof Tchorzewski has said that he had assured EDF Polska S.A. that although Polish state-owned companies were not currently in a position to buy EdF's Polish assets which are up for sale, that an investor would soon be found by the Polish side. EdF has invited only IFM Investors Pty Ltd and Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding, a.s. to negotiate a sale of the district heating and power generating assets. Any transaction carried out as a result will need to be ratified by the Polish state, and if approval is not forthcoming, a fine of up to PLN 100 million and prison sentence of five years could be imposed.

EDF Exclusive In Talks To Sell Its EDF Polska's Assets

Electricite de France SA (ENXTPA:EDF) says in exclusive negotiations for sale of the assets of EDF Polska S.A. Following an open and competitive process, EDF announces it entered into exclusive negotiations with IFM Investors Pty Ltd investors on basis of a binding offer for its cogeneration activities in Poland. Says a distinct sale process for coal-fired rybnik power plant (1.8 gw capacity) is ongoing and EDF entered into exclusive negotiations with Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding, a.s.
