Long Island Association, Inc. Key Developments

Long Island Association Appoints Board of Directors

The Long Island Association added two new board members from the tech and finance sectors to one-year terms. The organization at its annual meeting on March 2, 2016 elected John Burke, Cititbank's director of commercial banking for the Long Island market, and Anil Kapoor, president and CEO of SVAM International. Burke replaces Zachary Mayo, who in 2012 was named market president of Long Island and last year was named managing director and head of the bank's middle market segment.

Long Island Association Names Lawrence Waldman as Chairman

The Long Island Association’s board of directors tapped EisnerAmper Senior Adviser Lawrence Waldman to serve as chairman. Waldman, who also serves as a trustee of the State University of New York and is an adjunct professor of accounting at Hofstra University, succeeds former Bethpage Federal Credit Union CEO Kirk Kordeleski, who resigned from both his job and the LIA board in October. As chairman, Waldman will lead the LIA’s board, which includes more than 65 local business and government leaders from a variety of industries. Despite the large size, Waldman said the board is as proactive as they come.
