Eletrosul Begins Construction Work on 181MW Hermenegildo Wind Farm in Southern State of Rio Grande do Sul

Eletrosul has begun construction work on its 181MW Hermenegildo wind farm in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. The BRL 900 million facility will form part of the Campos Neutrais complex that also includes the Geribatu (258MW) and Chu (144MW) wind farms. Hermenegildo will comprise 100 aerogenerators supplied by General Electric. The turbines are due for delivery by February 2015. The Campos Neutrais complex will require investment of BRL 2.7 billion.
Eletrosul Receives BRL 160 Million Capital Boost for Investments in Transmission and Renewable Generation Project

Eletrosul received a BRL 160 million ($67 million) capital boost for investments in transmission and renewable generation projects. The funds were raised via loans from national development bank BNDES and federal innovation agency Finep, as well as infrastructure bonds. According to Eletrosul, BRL 122 million will be directed towards transmission expansion projects in Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and ParanÃ¡ states. A further BRL 26.5 million will go towards the Brazil-Uruguay grid interconnection, in partnership with Eletrosul's parent firm Eletrobras. Solar and wind research projects will also receive BRL 11.3 million.

Eletrosul announced earnings and operating results for the first half of 2014. For the first half, the company reported total generated energy of 938 GWh against 641 GWh a year ago.
For the first half, the company reported net operating revenue was BRL 500 million against BRL 526 million a year ago. Profit was BRL 187 million against BRL 111 million a year ago. EBITDA was BRL 418 million against BRL 230 million a year ago.
