Rohde & Schwarz Unveils R&S ZNrun software

Rohde & Schwarz has unveiled new R&S ZNrun software which optimizes automated testing on multiport DUTs using network analyzers. The new R&S ZNrun software from Rohde & Schwarz assists users in configuring measurements specifically for multiport DUTs using Rohde & Schwarz vector network analyzers (VNA). The user selects the VNA and any additional test equipment - for example an R&S ZNB vector network analyzer and an R&S ZN-Z84 switch matrix - and sets the parameters to be measured on the DUT. Based on this information, the R&S ZNrun software takes over communications with the test equipment, makes all of the settings, and executes and controls the test sequence. This procedure simplifies in particular the time-consuming characterization of multiport components. The software is especially suited to production applications, where speed is vital. The R&S ZNrun software creates the ideal connection plan for connecting a multiport DUT to a matrix in order to keep the number of switching operations and switching levels to a minimum. This leads to a boost in measurement speed, in particular when the R&S ZNB vector network analyzer is used in combination with an R&S ZN-Z84 or R&S ZN-Z85 switch matrix. R&S ZNrun also supports the user during calibration, which is especially time-consuming and complex in the case of multiport applications. The software shows exactly which test port should be connected to which calibration standard or to which port on a calibration unit. Moreover, each port can be color-coded or assigned a user-specific label to make it easier to identify. It is also possible to repeat individual calibration steps, for example if a test cable is found to be defective or if an incorrect standard was used during manual calibration. The software runs on an external PC. A graphical user interface is available for easy configuration of complex test scenarios. In addition to vector network analyzers, switch matrices and DUTs, the software also allows the integration of external devices such as power supplies into the test setup by using plug-ins. The configured test scenarios are independent of the test equipment used. If a test setup is modified, the user merely selects the new test equipment in the software - there is no need to completely redefine the test. For daily use in the production line, the R&S ZNrun GUI offers a simplified view. The straightforward pass/fail result display for every test is especially helpful. The software also indicates how many of the DUTs passed the tests and how many failed.
Rohde & Schwarz Introduces New R&S FSW-B2000 Hardware Option

Rohde & Schwarz, has announced the expansion of the analysis bandwidth of its R&S FSW high end signal and spectrum analyzer to 2GHz by introducing the new R&S FSW-B2000 hardware option. This test solution enables R&D users to demodulate extremely wideband signals and analyze them in detail. There is no other instrument on the market that combines such a large analysis bandwidth with a frequency range up to 67 GHz, and it opens up numerous applications. To analyze a signal with such a large bandwidth, the R&S FSW downconverts it to an intermediate frequency, which is then wideband digitized by an R&S RTO oscilloscope. The R&S FSW equalizes this digital signal and adjusts the sampling rate. The entire signal path including the oscilloscope is calibrated. Users control the easy to operate setup via the analyzer, which also displays measurement results. R&S FSW measurement applications such as vector signal analysis or pulse and transient measurements make it possible to analyze the signal in detail. No other test solution on the market currently enables both spectrum and modulation measurements in the frequency range up to 67 GHz with such a large bandwidth. The performance features offered by the R&S FSW make the instrument ideal for developers of devices and components complying with IEEE 802.11ad, the latest WLAN standard, enabling the transmission of high data rates over short distances. IEEE 802.11ad signals have a symbol rate of 1.76 Gsample/s in single carrier mode and require 2 GHz of analysis bandwidth for demodulation. The R&S FSW-B2000 option for the R&S FSW26 to R&S FSW67 high end signal and spectrum analyzers with frequency ranges up to 26.5 /43.5 /50 /67 GHz is now available from Rohde & Schwarz.
Rohde & Schwarz Introduces IMS Server Upgrade for R&S CMW500

Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG has introduced an IP multimedia subsystem, or IMS, server upgrade for the R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester. IMS is used in LTE networks to provide voice services such as voice over LTE (VoLTE). Network operators and manufacturers of chipsets and wireless devices benefit from a fully integrated, user-friendly test environment for verifying the IMS and VoLTE functionality of mobile devices. The R&S CMW500 with IMS server supports end-to-end voice and video calls and can test the interaction between two mobile devices. The solution's virtual subscriber concept provides extra flexibility in creating user-defined tests. Users can configure and save virtual subscribers with varying usage profiles. All of the new IMS server's functionalities can be fully automated. Together with the unique R&S CMW500 IP analysis function, it is possible to analyze transmitted data and media information for VoLTE, such as whether a mobile phone uses the correct Codec. The R&S CMW-KAA20 IMS server option and the R&S CMW-KM051 IP analysis option for the R&S CMW500 with integrated data application unit are now available from Rohde & Schwarz.
