Elster Introduces Connexo
Feb 3 15
Elster announced the launch of Connexo, the company's next-generation smart grid software suite. Connexo solves several problems utilities face as they strive to manage the escalating volumes, types and complexity of smart grid data needed to meet evolving business, regulatory and customer expectations. Connexo integrates key operational workflows, business processes and smart grid data from multiple devices and vendors into a single interoperable solution. As a result, it provides utilities with a unified and simple approach for securely collecting, processing, storing and managing smart grid data. The software eliminates challenges that arise for utilities operating separate data collection and management systems, and its built-in workflow automation and guided decision-making are designed to enhance operator productivity and reduce the cost and complexity of utility operations. Connexo supports over 200 communication protocols, enabling seamless collection and processing of data from many different meter and sensor vendors within the smart grid ecosystem. Its modular architecture was designed with a rapidly changing future in mind, providing the flexibility to easily add new devices, protocols and applications supporting present and future use cases as the industry and each utility's needs change. Connexo is designed to scale efficiently to handle terabytes of data.
British Gas Chooses Elster as Primary Partner for Advanced Gas Metering to Support its Business Customers
Jul 28 14
Elster announced that British Gas Business (BGB) has selected the metering firm as its primary partner for the provision of advanced gas metering. The agreement sees Elster, Europe’s provider of non-domestic meters, supplying up to 100,000 advanced Commercial and Industrial gas meters over the next three years to a significant proportion of BGB’s UK customer base. Under this arrangement Elster will provide its next generation range of themis diaphragm gas meters, with flexible embedded GPRS communications and Zone 0 ATEX accreditation. Elster will also supply its RABO range of rotary meters with encoder communications. Both of these technologies are aimed at improving the accuracy and frequency of data which BGB is able to provide to its business customers, enabling them to more easily understand and manage their energy. The themis range of meters utilises a modular UMI communications protocol which supports a flexible approach to future change requirements, effectively future-proofing smart solutions.
