Polkomtel to Compensate Orange Poland for Spectrum

Orange Poland announced that the District Court in Warsaw has decided that Polkomtel, operator of network Plus, must pay Orange PLN 9 million contractual penalty with interest of PLN 6 million, from April 12, 2014 until the date of payment, and the PLN 3 million from July 23, 2014 until the date of payment. This settles the lawsuit in which Orange sought compensation for Plus not meeting its contractual requirements and selling 2.4 MHz frequencies in the band 1,800 MHz.
Polkomtel to Extend Contract with Foreign Affairs Ministry

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs selected Polkomtel for provision of mobile telephony services. The contract was awarded without tender based on the contract from the beginning of 2013, based on which Polkomtel provides mobile services to the ministry over terminals and BlackBerrys (push mail with BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0.). The three-year contract worth PLN 5.93 million also included the delivery of 2,500 BlackBerrys, smart card readers, SIM cards and licenses. The amount of the additional contract should not exceed 50% of the basic contract amount.
Infradata and Polkomtel Launch Next Generation Diameter System

Infradata and Polkomtel, which runs the Plus network, are the first to launch a Next Generation Diameter signalling service for a Polish operator. Polkomtel goes live with an LTE roaming service powered by the BFX Interface Gateway from BroadForward, delivered by Infradata. Through the implementation of BFX, Polkomtel becomes the first Polish operator to launch a Next Generation Diameter Signalling Controller, keeping up its tradition of being a pioneer in introducing the latest technology to the Polish market.
