Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Ltda. Secures a Contract to Build 2,884 Dump Trucks for the Brazilian Government

Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Ltda. has secured a contract to build 2,884 dump trucks for the Brazilian government. The dump trucks will be based on the Atron, specifically built for Brazil. The order is part of a Brazilian government initiative to support agricultural family businesses and is within the framework of the national PAC-2 economic programme, aimed at stimulating economic growth through investment projects. Mercedes-Benz has built more than 2 million commercial vehicles at the Sao Bernardo do Campo plant and sold around 27,000 through August. With the increase in orders, Daimler is tipped to be announcing a two-year plan for production in 2014 and 2015 on 27 October, and follows an investment of USD 230 million to build a new passenger-car plant for GLA and C-Class.

Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Receives Orders from Four Local Transport Services in Brazil

Mercedes-Benz do Brasil has received orders from four local transport services in a tender from Brasilia's municipal government for renewal of the fleet of public passenger transport vehicles. The total order includes 2,100 Mercedes-Benz bus chassis, which are now being delivered. The fleet of the metropolitan region is to be updated by December 2013. The transportation companies in Brasilia have a total of 3,300 buses in local public passenger transport, which are to be successively replaced by the new vehicles. Thus, the total fleet will be comprised of over 60% new bus chassis by Mercedes-Benz.
