SEAT, S.A. to Launch Ateca SUV in the United Kingdom in September 2016

Volkswagen AG announced that it will launch its Ateca SUV in the United Kingdom in September 2016. The model is to compete with similar offerings from Nissan, Mazda, Hyundai and Kia. It is to be priced from GBP 17,990. The vehicle will be available with a choice of two petrol and two diesel units, a 1.0 TSI three-cylinder engine that produces 113bhp, a 113bhp 1.6 TDI and a 2.0 TDI that produces either 148bhp or 187bhp. All engines will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. It features a wireless charging function, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and Traffic Jam Assist.

Seat to Launch 2016 Ateca at Geneva Auto Show

Seat is launching its 2016 Ateca at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show. The vehicle is built on the same modular MQB platform as the Audi TT, the Euro-spec Volkswagen Passat, the Golf, and the second-generation Tiguan. It has sharp headlights accented by thin strips of LEDs, a wide air dam, and a trapezoidal grille, similar to the SEAT hatchbacks. Black plastic cladding on the bottom of both bumpers, on the rocker panels, and over the wheel arches add a rugged touch to the look. It is available with a choice of five turbocharged engines ranging from a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder that produces 113bhp, to a 2.0-litre TDI turbodiesel modified to deliver 187bhp. The model is to arrive at European dealerships before the end of 2016.

SEAT Signs Deal to Supply its Leon to the Two Italian Police Forces

SEAT announced that it has signed a deal to supply its Leon to the two Italian police forces. According to a statement, the contract relates to the five-door hatchback body style using a 2.0-litre 150PS diesel engine. The first 106 have been delivered to the Carabinieri (which has ordered 450) and 100 have gone to the Polizia di Stato (which has ordered 475). However, up to 4,000 vehicles could be supplied over the next three years as part of an optional expanded deal.
