Fortescue Reportedly In Talks For Sale Of Assets In China And Japan

Fortescue Metals Group Limited (ASX:FMG) is rumored to be in discussions for a potential sale of some of its assets with parties in China and Japan. The company is known to have held discussions with Baosteel Group Corporation and several Japanese firms, and is considering selling a stake of up to 20% in some if its mines, , people with knowledge of the matter said. The company has held talks with about 10 potential Asian investors, according to the people. In a statement Fortescue stated: "Fortescue holds discussions with third parties on many issues on a regular basis and is always open to commercial discussions with current and potential partners." Fortescue confirms that it does not comment on such speculation.

Baosteel Group Corporation and CITIC had held talks with Fortescue Metals Group Limited (ASX:FMG) about an investment in Fortescue. There are no moves to take over Fortescue. Instead, the companies are interested in buying a stake or increasing an existing stake, sources said.
Viscolube and Baosteel to Build Waste Oil Re-Generation Plant in China

Viscolube and Baosteel Group plan to build a 40,000 tonne per year regeneration plant for waste lube oil in China. A greenfield 40,000 tonne/year regeneration plant usually takes two years to complete, and could cost between $50 million to $55 million to build. Viscolube's re-refined base oils are obtained through a proprietary technology involving high-pressure catalytic hydrogenation process. The company has two production facilities in Italy that can treat more than 160,000 tonnes/year of waste oil, to produce more than 100,000 tonnes/year of re-refined base oil.
