AppDynamics, Inc. Key Developments

The Net-A-Porter Group Selects AppDynamics to Drive Customer Experience and Operational Excellence Across its Core Retail Brands

AppDynamics announced a new deal with Net-A-Porter Group. Net-A-Porter has selected the AppDynamics Application Intelligence Platform as a critical tool to help build and later operate Net-A-Porter’s new customer-centric network operations center (NOC) that will aim to drive operational excellence and deliver a flawless user experience to the Group’s nine million monthly visitors. The Group has deployed AppDynamics end-to-end across its three brands, NET-A-PORTER, THE OUTNET and MR PORTER, in order to help reduce the complexity of its infrastructure, while improving visibility of application performance and BizDevOps collaboration. The platform empowers DevOps teams within each of the three brands, as well as the operations team that oversees the Group’s infrastructure, to move away from a siloed view of application performance. It is now possible to proactively measure the quality of customer experience across the Group’s site functions such as search, checkout, product comparison, and homepage displays. The Net-A-Porter Group is built on a foundation of technology innovation and was an early adopter of AppDynamics, and due to this longstanding working relationship the Group’s requirements were built into AppDynamics product roadmap.

AppDynamics Announces the Beta Availability of Browser Synthetic Monitoring

AppDynamics announced the beta availability of Browser Synthetic Monitoring, a distributed, cloud-based, intelligent monitoring solution for programmatically monitoring website availability, functionality, and performance. Browser Synthetic Monitoring enables enterprises to proactively monitor and optimize their websites and web applications from locations around the globe, using real web browsers, to detect and troubleshoot availability and performance issues before they impact actual users. It joins Browser Real-User Monitoring and Mobile Real-User Monitoring to form AppDynamics’ comprehensive End-User Monitoring solution. Browser Synthetic Monitoring is designed to give website and web application owners the confidence that their site or application is available 24/7 for users in any geography. It programmatically simulates end-user requests, in real browsers, to proactively uncover performance issues, independently of real-user load, before users are affected. Its automatic, dynamic performance base lining also makes it highly useful for building, measuring and enforcing service-level agreements, and to improve error reporting. With more than two dozen points of presence around the globe, Browser Synthetic Monitoring enables enterprises to test their sites and applications from their most important geographies. Because it is cloud-based, infrastructure costs are not a factor and capacity can be spun up or down as needed. This gives enterprises complete flexibility to schedule Browser Synthetic Monitoring at whatever dates, times, windows and scale suits their strategic and budget needs. The new Browser Synthetic Monitoring solution is built with the highly regarded, open source WebPageTest technology. Unlike some other solutions, it uses real, not simulated, web browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer, for the most accurate representation of how users experience a site or application. When a failure or error is detected, an automatic re-test can be initiated to eliminate false positive notifications. If a true problem is identified, the solution offers the ability to quickly drill down and identify root causes.

AppDynamics Releases Application Performance Monitoring for Python Applications

AppDynamics announced the general availability of application performance monitoring for Python applications. The AppDynamics APM Solution for Python brings all the capabilities of the AppDynamics application intelligence platform to Python applications, including automatic application flow-mapping; real-time, end-to-end, code-level visibility to enable rapid problem resolution; and database and infrastructure monitoring. The solution monitors Python applications in both development and live production environments. As the newest language in the AppDynamics APM family, Python applications now benefit from the tremendous scalability of the platform and the ability to see application and transaction performance across complex and highly distributed environments. AppDynamics APM for Python automatically discovers and maps application topology and dependencies, including other applications, web services, databases, and underlying infrastructure, providing visibility into the components and processes that can impact Python performance. Specific functionality for Python developers and operations teams includes: code-level application monitoring, key business transactions monitoring, errors and exceptions detection in real time, heterogenous database performance management, and infrastructure performance correlation.
