Renault-Nissan Automotive India Lays Off 800 Temporary Employees at Chennai Plant

Renault-Nissan Automotive India has laid off around 700-800 temporary employees at its Oragadam plant near Chennai following a decline in sales. The downsizing began months ago and comes in the wake of a similar action involving trainees earlier, which prompted nearly 30 trainees to file a case at a labour court here last month seeking reinstatement.

Renault-Nissan Automotive India Announces Plans to Layoffs 3,000 Jobs

Oragadam car factory managed by Renault-Nissan Automotive India is to witness discontinuation of services for as many as about 3,000 employees. The company has considered plans to cut down on 40 cars an hour production to about 20 cars an hours which means a direct drop in 50% output at the facility in the country. Over the last three months, the sales have taken a strong hit where inventory has been piling up at the company's facility and dealership outlets. Renault-Nissan announced plans of massive layoffs at TN facility, around 3,000 jobs to be axed.

Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd. Appoints Colin Macdonald as Managing Director, Effective April 1, 2015

Colin MacDonald has been appointed the new managing director of Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL) with effect from 1 April 2015. Since January 2014, MacDonald is serving the company as deputy managing director. In his new role, he will be responsible for the operations of the alliance's production plant at Oragadam, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He succeeds Toshihiko Sano, who is moving to Nissan supplier Calsonic Kansei as senior vice-president.
