Reverb Announces Swagger 2.0
Sep 8 14
Reverb Technologies announced the release of Swagger 2.0, the second generation of the world's most popular API interface. With this release, Reverb has coordinated one of the largest ever open standards workgroups in the API space, combining contributions from nearly 500 companies small and large including Apigee, 3scale, Getty Images, Intuit, Morningstar, Inc., PayPal, SnapLogic, Strongloop and Yandex. Swagger effectively solves the age-old challenge of machine-to-machine communication, which has become increasingly complicated with cloud computing. The Swagger specification, first released in late 2010 by Wordnik (a property of Reverb) has been the most successful API interface effort to date. Historically, WSDL, WADL, and WADL 2.0 aimed to perform similar tasks but were plagued with complexity and had limited adoption across different programming languages and frameworks. The root of Swagger is the machine-readable description format. From this interface, hundreds of projects have been developed to automatically generate documentation, developer portals, client SDKs and even servers. With the introduction of the 2.0 specification, a standards-based and human-readable format--YAML--has been integrated to allow developers to develop Swagger-based applications in a powerful yet simple user interface, contributed by Swagger 2.0 charter member Apigee.
Reverb Introduces News Discovery App for iPhone and iPod touch
May 20 14
Reverb Technologies, Inc. announced that its digital discovery app is now available for iPhone and iPod touch. Reverb's content discovery platform excels at predicting a user's interests -- and, more importantly, intent -- and recommends related and personalised content based on reading habits. In fact, a user is eight times more likely to read an article recommended by Reverb compared with suggestions from other news apps or sites. The new Reverb for iPhone app organizes news by topic in a vertical "word wall" in three distinct views for easy browsing and fast navigation: Top News: highlights the most current news and ideas trending around the world from trustworthy and popular sites; My News: Adapts in "real-time" to what user read in the app to deliver more of what user are interested in; Social News: aggregates all the links shared by a person's Twitter and Facebook connections and distills them into topics and ideas on the word wall. The Reverb for iPhone app finds content from thousands of sources ranging from top-tier news outlets to niche blogs, as well as a reader's Twitter and Facebook feeds. The iPhone and iPad apps sync automatically to reflect readers' interests and collections across devices. Additionally, readers can easily share content they discover within Reverb via Twitter, Facebook, text message and email. Users can also "favorite" articles to save and read later.
