The privatization of Port of Melbourne Corporation has received $2.24 billion equity commitment. This would pressurize Queensland government to abandon its anti-privatization stance and push ahead with a sale of Gladstone Ports Corporation Limited and Port of Townsville Limited. Gladstone could fetch over $2 billon and Townsville may sell for close to $1 billion. According to sources close to the negotiations, Flagstaff and Morgan Stanley initially agreed to $17.5 million in fees for the privatization.
