Oct 25 14
The plan by Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak ('PKNP') to privatise Perak Corp. Bhd (KLSE:PRKCORP) has hit a snag following opposition from Sime Darby Property Berhad. Perak Corp. said it was informed by PKNP and concerted parties to withdraw the proposal, which involves selective capital reduction ('SCR') and repayment exercise totalling MYR 183 million, or MYR 3.90 per share. "Perak yesterday received a letter from PKNP, on behalf of and together with Fast Continent Sdn Bhd, Cherry Blossom Sdn Bhd and Perak Equity Sdn Bhd, requesting it to withdraw the proposed SCR," Perak said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia. The withdrawal was made after Sime Darby Property informed that it would be voting against the SCR at Perak Corp.'s upcoming extraordinary general meeting.
