Canada Goose Inc. Key Developments

Canada Goose Reportedly Mulls IPO

Canada Goose Inc. is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), in a sign that an uptick in the new-issue market could continue. Canada Goose is interviewing potential underwriters for an offering that could value it at around $2 billion, according to people familiar with the matter. That would put it on track for a debut early next year. There is no guarantee an offering will take place as any number of factors, like a renewed bout of stock-market volatility, could get in the way.

Canada Goose Inc. Announces Executive Changes

Canada Goose Inc. announced three new executive appointments: Lee Turlington as Chief Product Officer, Jackie Poriadjian-Asch as Chief Marketing Officer, and Scott Cameron as EVP of eCommerce, Stores and Strategy. Bringing deep expertise across a variety of industries, the new executive members significantly broaden the company's leadership capacity and will play a primary role in driving product innovation, supporting continued global growth, and maximizing the brand's opportunities ahead. Before joining Canada Goose, Jackie Poriadjian-Asch served as the SVP of Global Brand Marketing at UFC where she spent almost a decade building the brand on a global scale. Kevin Spreekmeester, who recently served as Chief Marketing Officer, will move into the new role of Chief Brand Officer. Joining Canada Goose in 2008, Kevin's rich brand-building expertise and passion for the brand will continue to be an immeasurable asset to all strategic brand decisions. Joining the company from McKinsey & Co., where he was a partner, Scott Cameron will serve as the EVP of eCommerce, Stores, and Strategy. Bringing years of experience working with retailers and consumer brands across a variety of topics, Scott will be responsible for growing Canada Goose's direct-to-consumer channels globally, including the upcoming launch of the company's first retail stores in Toronto and New York City.

Canada Goose Plans Global Expansion

Canada Goose plans to double staff at a new factory in Winnipeg by early next year as it lays the groundwork for a bigger international expansion. Last January, Canada Goose purchased a 45,000 square-foot facility in Toronto from a company that was making its garments under contract. Its new Winnipeg factory is significantly larger - measuring 103,000 square feet. It's located at 1455 Mountain Ave., just north of the company's existing operations in the city. In total, Canada Goose now has two factories in Winnipeg and two in Toronto. The company also contracts out manufacturing work to about 20 other factories across the country.
