Caixa Seguros Is Reportedly Considered For Listing

Brazil's government has given up plans to hold an initial public offering of state-run mortgage lender Caixa Econômica Federal in favor of an IPO of bank's insurance unit Caixa Seguros S.A., Valor Economico newspaper reported on March 9, 2015. Plans to list shares of Caixa were unveiled by President Dilma Rousseff in December 2014 as the government seeks to raise funds to patch a growing budget deficit. A spokeswoman at Brazil's Finance Ministry said she had no comment on the report and representatives for Rousseff's office were not immediately available to comment on Valor's story, reported Reuters.

Caixa Seguros (Brazil) reported sales results for the full year ended December 31, 2013. Premium income was EUR 3,018.5 million against EUR 2,876.9 million last year.

Liberty Seguros Decided Not To Acquire Caixa Seguros

Liberty Seguros will not acquire Caixa Seguros S.A. Jose de Sousa, Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Seguros said, as quoted by business daily Jornal de Negocios, that Liberty has decided not to acquire Caixa Seguros. Sousa added that Liberty got the papers for the deal and studied the transaction but decided not to submit an offer. The deadline for initial offers for Caixa Seguros expired on August 8, 2013.
