Participant Media Announces Executive Changes

Participant Media has named Andy Kim its Chief Financial Officer. Participant CEO David Linde, to whom Kim will report, made the announcement. Kim will relocate from New York to Los Angeles and will begin at the company on October 3, 2016. Kim will replace CFO Bob Murphy, who spent nine years at the company and will assist Kim transition into the role. As Chief Financial Officer, Kim will be responsible for overseeing all of the financial activities at the company including accounting, finance, information technology, and real estate. He will play a major role in driving results for all key business areas including film, digital, and social impact. Kim will also be a key contributor to shaping and implementing strategic initiatives. Kim joins Participant from The Weinstein Company, where he has worked since 2005, and served as CFO since 2010.

Participant Media Names Bob Pilon as Executive Vice President, Social Impact

Participant Media has appointed Bob Pilon to the position of executive vice president, Social Impact. Pilon, who most recently served as chief development officer for The ONE Campaign, will report to CEO Linde and COO Sam Neswick. Pilon comes to Participant from The ONE Campaign. Prior to ONE, Pilon held senior leadership positions at high-impact NGOs including Malaria No More, Thelonious Monk Institute and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation after starting his career at Bloomberg L.P.

Participant Media Promotes Gabriel Brakin to General Counsel and Executive Vice President, Business Affairs

Participant Media has promoted Gabriel Brakin to general counsel and executive vice president, Business Affairs. As general counsel and EVP of Business Affairs, Brakin oversees film financing and investments, plays a key role in shaping and implementing strategic business initiatives, and manages the Business Affairs team conducting negotiations for all of Participant’s film and digital content, marketing, social impact, as well as cross-platform creative and distribution activities. He also oversees intellectual property, corporate matters and compliance issues. Previously Brakin was the executive vice president of Business and Legal Affairs at Participant. Brakin first joined Participant in 2008 as vice president, Business and Legal Affairs. Prior to joining Participant, Brakin was an entertainment and media transactions attorney in the Century City office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP. Previously, Brakin served as a law clerk to the Honorable A. Wallace Tashima on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
