UnboundID, Corp. Key Developments

Northern Arizona University Chooses UnboundID Identity Data Platform

UnboundID announced that Northern Arizona University selected the UnboundID Identity Data Platform to support the nearly one million entries in their directory stores of student and employee data.

UnboundID Releases Version 4.5 of the UnboundID Identity Data Platform

UnboundID released version 4.5 of the UnboundID Identity Data Platform, providing extended capabilities for managing the entire consumer identity lifecycle. The latest version's capabilities include an end-to-end consumer profile service-supporting profile data aggregation across disparate, heterogeneous identity data stores-as well as key security and performance enhancements to the core identity data platform. Version 4.5's new features allow the UnboundID solution to act as an 'Identity API Gateway,' providing companies with a common consumer profile service built on the industry standard OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect protocols. UnboundID customers-some of the world's larger telecommunications, financial services and cloud service providers-can use this update to integrate their customer identity data with a wide range of applications and services leveraging standards-based protocols. Key capabilities included in the 4.5 version of the UnboundID Identity Data Platform are: Common Consumer Profile Service-The UnboundID Identity Broker now supports the aggregation of consumer profile data from a wide range of backend identity data stores, including directories, databases, and web services. Profiles may be exposed via the SCIM standard or via a native RESTful API, providing a unified web service for managing the complete consumer identity lifecycle. In accordance with the OAuth 2.0 Authorization Framework, the UnboundID Identity Broker is also now capable of acting as both an Authorization Server and Resource Server for incoming profile requests. Fine-Grained, Policy-Driven Data Views-The UnboundID Identity Broker centrally applies authorization rules that filter the attributes returned to requesting applications based on industry or corporate policies, or the consent granted by the individual for whom the profile represents. These virtualized data views may be configured as authoritative for reads, searches, or writes on an attribute-by-attribute basis, providing fine-grained control over how individual attributes are viewed, managed and authorized across multiple backend data sources. OpenID Connect Authentication-Applications may now leverage the UnboundID Identity Broker for verifying authentication credentials using the OpenID Connect standard protocol. This makes it possible to centralize the management and enforcement of user credentials for use by any internal or third party application. Tamper-Evident Auditing-By leveraging cryptographic digests, the UnboundID Identity Data Platform provides non-repudiation concerning the integrity of audit log files generated from the platform. This provides additional protective measures against malicious attacks from privileged account holders, administrators or other rogue insider threats. Enhanced Replication Initialization-Enhancements were made to the UnboundID Identity Data Store to reduce the amount of time required to initialize a replica using binary transfers. This streamlines disaster recovery procedures and reduces the overall time needed to achieve geographic redundancy. The UnboundID Identity Data Platform enables companies to collect, manage, and share consumer identity data so that they can better engage their customers. At the heart of these engaging experiences are rich consumer profiles built with the UnboundID solution using identity data collected from individuals in a transparent and privacy-respecting fashion. It is this 'privacy-by-design' approach to identity data collection that sets UnboundID apart from other platform providers.

UnboundID Releases Privacy Suite

UnboundID released its Privacy Suite, a solution that brings transparency, choice, and control to the collection and on-going management of personal data, while authorizing and governing the use of this data in real-time. The Suite provides the technology foundation for companies to ensure compliance with their stated privacy practices and enables them to build business models that leverage customer identity data. Built on the UnboundID Identity Data Platform, the privacy solution gives users more control over their data. The Privacy Suite allows service providers, such as telecommunications, high tech and financial services companies to effectively and securely collect, manage, and share customer identity data while respecting customers' privacy wishes. A wealth of personal data is being collected, sold and shared by service providers, and consumers are not always informed or aware of how their personal and private information is being used. The Privacy Suite provides transparency to customers and gives them access to the personal data their service providers possess. The Suite also allows customers to have choice and control over their data. They can set preferences and determine the parameters of how and to what capacity their data is leveraged or shared. By involving customers more, service providers can better meet their needs and desires as well as establish customer trust and loyalty. The Privacy Suite authorizes the release of data via policies that combine customer consent choices with internal access policies. If access violates internal policies or the individual's consent, the data cannot be retrieved. To monetize identity data and build new revenue models around this information, companies can use the Privacy Suite to collect and authorize the use of personal data to upsell and cross-sell product offerings, or market personalized services or products to improve the customer experience. Key features of the Privacy Suite are: enables the individual customer to make context-sensitive choices regarding the disclosure of personal data and provides the means to centrally manage those choices and the data that they have shared; designed to authorize data access requests in real-time for consumer-facing applications and services; provides templates for defining data access policies that leverage volatile customer privacy preferences and dynamic request based criteria; centralizes the definition, enforcement, and auditing of policy-based decisions regarding personal data. As an integrated middleware solution, the Suite provides key integration touch points: standard protocols to interact with the authorization (privacy) engine enabling a wide variety of use cases; complete admin and end-user REST APIs allow integration with existing user interfaces and administrative tools; support for a wide-range of existing, in-house identity management technologies. Physically, the solution is deployable atop virtualized and/or commodity hardware and, as a carrier grade product, is designed for high-availability and geographic redundancy. Operational staff may use the platform's built-in monitoring tools or tap into standard management APIs for leveraging their tools of choice.
