Carolyn McCall, Kathryn Parsons, Stephen Carter and Stuart Quickenden have been appointed as non-executive board members at Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Kathryn Parsons brings with her valuable expertise from the digital enterprise community sitting on the London Mayor's Business Advisory Board, the government's Cyber Security Board and she chairs the Digital Skills and Innovation Fund. Stephen brings a unique combination of skills and experience gained through a career in the media and telecommunications industries, in both the private and public sectors. He is the Group CEO of Informa plc. Stuart Quickenden has had a 20 year career at Boston Consulting Group, a leading global management consultancy, culminating in him becoming Managing Partner.

Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy Appoints Archie Norman as Lead Non-Executive Director

Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) appointed Archie Norman as Lead Non-Executive Director. He will sit on the BEIS Departmental Board and give advice on the future direction of the department. Mr. Norman, who will take up his position later the month of October 2016 and will work closely with the Business and Energy Secretary and other BEIS ministers.

Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Appoints Gareth Davies as Director General for Business and Science

Gareth Davies has been appointed to the role of Director General for Business and Science, at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). Gareth brings extensive valuable experience to the new role, which has been redesigned to better align with government priorities. He was previously the Executive Director and Chief Economist in the Cabinet Office, responsible for civil society, innovation and analysis. He spent his early career in PricewaterhouseCoopers, specializing in asset sales, competition policy and investment appraisal. Over the past decade he has worked in Downing Street as the Prime Minister's lead adviser on welfare reform, been Head of the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit and was a board member of the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills. Having been the interim Director General for Business and Science since September 2015, Gareth will continue to lead approximately 450 staff, delivering ministers' priorities to promote economic growth through research, innovation and transfer of knowledge, skills and ideas, as well as leading directorates with responsibility for business and enterprise.
