Consumer Bankers Association Appoints Samuel Whitfield, Jr. as Senior Vice President of Congressional Affairs

The Consumer Bankers Association announced the appointment of Samuel (Sam) Whitfield, Jr. as Senior Vice President of Congressional Affairs, effective January 5, 2016. Whitfield,a seasoned public policy professional, joins CBA with an extensive background in the public and private sectors, ranging from associations to Capitol Hill and the White House. In his role, he will lead CBA's government relations team and serve as a member of the CBA management team. Most recently, Whitfield served as Deputy Chief Advocacy Officer for Congressional Relations at the Credit Union National Association.

Consumer Bankers Association Announces Executive Appointments

The Consumer Bankers Association announced that Will Howle, Head of U.S. Retail Banking for Citigroup Inc., as Chairman of the Board of Directors, leading CBA's newly elected leadership for 2016. Howle previously had been serving as Chair-Elect of the Board. In addition, Ross Carey, Executive Vice President, Division Manager of U.S. Bank, has been named Chair-Elect. Howle succeeds Tim Wennes, West Coast President, Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Markets at MUFG Union Bank. Wennes, who has also served as CBA's Membership Council Chairman, will remain on the Board as Immediate Past Chair. Howle, Carey and Wennes will comprise CBA's Administrative Committee, which is charged with oversight of CBA's operations. BA membership also approved two new members to the Board. Joining the Board are David TyrieBank of America and Dennis DevineKey Community Bank. CBA's 24-member board of senior retail banking executives guides the organization in its support of and advocacy for the retail banking industry, which provides banking services to America's consumers and small businesses. In addition, Christopher McComishBMO Harris and Thong NguyenBank of America will be rotating off the board, and John OwenRegions will take over as Chair of the Government Relations Council.

Union Bank Names Todd Hollander as Vice Chairman of the Consumer Bankers Associations' Small Business Banking Committee

Union Bank announced that Managing Director Todd Hollander, who heads the banks Business Banking Group, has been named vice chairman of the Consumer Bankers Associations's (CBA) Small Business Banking Committee. Hollander will help set the committees mission, annual goals and agenda. His role also includes steering the committee through regulatory and legislative issues affecting small business lending. His current role became effective January 1, 2015. In October 2015, Hollander will begin serving a two-year term as the committees chairman through October 2017. Prior to Union Bank, he served as executive vice president for Citizens Business Bank, and he also held various senior executive positions at California National Bank, Pacific National Bank and U.S. Bank.
