CNA Corporation board of trustees has selected Katherine A. W. McGrady, Ph.D., now serving as Acting President of the Center for Naval Analyses, as the new President and Chief Executive Officer. McGrady will replace Robert J. Murray, who announced his intent to retire after serving CNA for 25 years. Appointed CNA Corporation’s first Chief Operating Officer in June 2009, McGrady began her career with CNA Corporation as an analyst in 1988.

Kaufman is responsible for overall executive management for the development and execution of all work in SAS, including the areas of public safety, homeland security, emergency management, and public health. Kaufman returns to CNA, where he was a director in SAS from 2008 to 2009, from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), having served as FEMA's Associate Administrator for Policy, Program Analysis, and International Affairs since 2009.

CNA Corporation announced that it has promoted James "Chip" Coldren, Ph.D., to the position of managing director of its Safety and Security division's Justice Programs Group, and has hired Laura Kunard, Ph.D., as a member of the group's senior management team. Coldren has been associated with CNA Corporation's Safety and Security division since 2006. In 2014, he took a leave of absence from Governors State University in Illinois to work full time with CNA on various justice system improvement projects. Kunard joins CNA after a successful career in Illinois in the development and delivery of training and technical assistance in community policing, social justice, police innovation, and procedural justice. She has worked at the forefront of police training and technical assistance for more than a decade, and brings both academic and practical perspectives to her work with police agencies across the country.
