Flinn Foundation, The Key Developments

Flinn Foundation Names Stacy L. Tucker as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

The Flinn Foundation has named Stacy L. Tucker its new Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, a position responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s investment, financial, accounting, and business activities. Tucker, who joined the Foundation in early March, also is responsible for financial reporting, auditing, budgeting, internal controls, insurance, employee benefits, and the preparation of annual tax returns and financial statements. Tucker arrives with first-hand understanding of the workings of a philanthropic organization and a depth of experience in her areas of responsibility. Tucker previously served as chief operating officer of a single-family office in Phoenix, where her responsibilities included management and oversight of the Timothy T. Day Foundation Inc. Her experience also includes a 10-year stint at Bar-S Foods Co., where she served as director of taxation, and positions in the tax department of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in both the Phoenix and Los Angeles offices.

Flinn Foundation Announces Executive Changes

After more than five years in a key role at the Flinn Foundation’s Executive Vice President Cathy McGonigle has announced her retirement. McGonigle’s departure June 26, 2015 will trigger three additional leadership changes at the Foundation. Two of the further staff moves will be internal. Brad Halvorsen has been named the Foundation’s new Executive Vice President. Matt Ellsworth will fill Halvorsen’s previous role as Vice President, Communications. Anne Lassen has been hired from the University of Arizona to serve as Assistant Vice President, Flinn Scholars Program, the position Ellsworth previously held. Post-retirement, McGonigle will consult part time for the Foundation, primarily on projects intended to advance the biosciences in Arizona. Halvorsen joined the foundation as its first communications officer in 1989, and his responsibilities have grown with the scope of the foundation’s initiatives. As Vice President, Communications, he has overseen communications with internal and external audiences, publications development, online productions, media relations, and special events.
