AppNexus Announces Partnership with Spotify to Enable Programmatic Buying Across Spotify's Global Audio Inventory
Jul 20 16
AppNexus announced a partnership with Spotify to enable programmatic buying across Spotify's global audio inventory. Under the terms of the partnership, buyers will be able to upload audio creatives and purchase inventory using AppNexus' Programmable DSP, which supports all digital media types including display, mobile, native, audio, and instream and outstream video. The deal represents ongoing momentum in the adoption of AppNexus' Publisher Suite by premium content producers that require a real-time, open, and independent monetization solution. AppNexus' audio capabilities, currently in closed Beta, enable advertisers to easily upload VAST audio files within the Console interface using any .wav, .mp3, or .ogg audio file. The input audio is then transcoded into multiple formats and bit rates and served via Content Delivery Network (CDN). Buyers can access supply from Spotify through private deals to leverage the seller's unique data offerings. Buyers using AppNexus' Console will have access to the same tools they use for their display and video buying.

AppNexus announced an expansion of its global technology partnership with Microsoft Corp. into video advertising. Under the terms of the partnership, Microsoft will adopt AppNexus' Video Supply Side Platform to monetize video inventory in select markets. This partnership builds upon AppNexus' role as the exclusive technology platform for Microsoft's display advertising business in 58 markets. Microsoft leverages AppNexus' video technology in four ways. AppNexus provides video ad serving for direct sold inventory; instream monetization for real-time bidding; outstream monetization to drive new revenue on article pages. The AppNexus Video SSP is designed to be flexible across video formats, scalable to connect programmatic video buyers and sellers, efficient for easy adoption, and effective for latency reduction. Formats supported include instream outstream video for desktop and mobile, and VAST interstitial video for games and apps. Programmatic transaction models include video RTB, mediation, managed campaigns, deals, and direct served. The AppNexus Video SSP is currently in closed testing with clients in the U.S. and Europe, with general availability targeted for the end of the second quarter. AppNexus will showcase its latest video technology at its Programmable Age Event Series.
