ExtraHop Announces Partnership with Sumo Logic
Nov 19 14
ExtraHop and Sumo Logic announced a partnership that combines wire data from ExtraHop with Sumo Logic’s scalable machine data analytics platform for powerful insights into enterprise IT infrastructure. The technology partnership leverages ExtraHop’s Open Data Stream to provide a single, unified view of wire data and machine data within the Sumo Logic cloud analytics service, delivering deep, rich, correlated visibility across all tiers of IT infrastructure. Armed with contextual insights from multiple data sources, enterprise IT teams are empowered to address service issues and security threats more quickly and effectively. The ExtraHop and Sumo Logic integration enables users to send precise, policy-driven events and metrics from the ExtraHop platform to the Sumo Logic platform in real-time via Open Data Stream for multidimensional analysis and correlation with other machine data sources. By coupling wire data from ExtraHop with Sumo Logic’s insight into the IT infrastructure that underlies enterprise applications, IT teams have the visibility they need to investigate and remediate issues affecting performance, availability, and security across infrastructure. Purpose-built for web-scale enterprises, Sumo Logics’s cloud-first platform ingests more than 14 trillion logs daily and dynamically scales as business needs evolve. With ExtraHop and Sumo Logic, enterprise IT teams can achieve the easily determine the slowest stored procedures for applications; Identify misconfigured DNS servers that are returning errors; Surface potential security threats by cross-referencing wire data and enterprise application data; Pinpoint Citrix XenApp servers responsible for slow application launch times along with the users affected and the cause; Detect anomalies through Sumo Logic and then explore contextual communications in ExtraHop; and Simplify IT operations across the board with best-in-class analytics solutions that are easy to deploy and maintain.
ExtraHop Integrates With FireEye to Defend Against Advanced Persistent Threats
Nov 11 14
ExtraHop announced an integration of the ExtraHop wire data analytics platform with the FireEye Threat Analytics Platform (TAP). Through this integration, which leverages the ExtraHop Open Data Stream technology to push wire data into the FireEye TAP, IT security teams are armed with near real-time attack visibility to more effectively detect and defend against advanced persistent threats. The integration of wire data from ExtraHop into the FireEye TAP delivers this next-generation visibility, arming IT security teams with an enriched security dataset, including the events and metrics needed to detect advanced persistent threats. ExtraHop wire data adds a new dimension of context to event streams being fed into TAP, which can then leverage rich insights from FireEye into threat actor profiles and behavior. This critical new data set cannot be sourced from machine or log data, but when combined and correlated together, ushers in a new era of near real-time threat analytics. The integration sends the following crucial events and metrics to the FireEye TAP: DNS activity, including domain look-ups and possible command-and-control communications; inbound and outbound HTTP payload data, including MD5 sums and threat signatures; session tracking, such as unexpected SSH connections, from external or internal clients; reconnaissance activity as attackers probe internal networks from compromised systems; and real-time data consumption to instantly recognize and alert on abnormal data rates indicating exfiltration from any system at any time.
