Highland Capital Management L.P. announced the launch of Highland Alternative Investors, a alternative investment platform that will encompass all of Highland’s existing non-traditional, liquid alternative funds.

Highland Capital Management, L.P. Appoints Felicia Smith as Managing Director

Highland Capital Management, L.P. announced the hiring of Felicia Smith as Managing Director. Ms. Smith will report to Josh Terry, Head of Structured Products and Trading for Highland Capital Management. She will be based in Dallas, TX. Ms. Smith will join Highland's business development team where she will be responsible for identifying and developing new relationships with institutional clients. In particular, she will focus on raising assets for Highland's CLO and credit platforms. Ms. Smith has over ten years of financial market experience. She joins Highland from Santander Consumer USA where she served as Vice President of Capital Markets. In this role she was responsible for overseeing all corporate funding and liquidity activities and was head of debt investor relations.

Highland Capital Management Expands Sales Team for Non-Traded Products

Highland Capital Management, L.P. announced the addition of nine new hires to its sales group for non-traded and mutual fund products in the independent broker-dealer channel. The new hires include five regional sales directors, Daniel Church, CFP(R), Anthony Hazen, Kevin Helwig, Michael Klisares, CFP(R), and Matthew Selman and four regional sales consultants. All nine new hires will report to Brian Mitts, who heads up distribution in the independent broker dealer channel. These hires, in addition to Jennifer Ricci, who was hired earlier this year to manage the national accounts effort, represent Highland's entrance into the independent channel and non-traded products business, which is expected to launch. Highland's new regional sales directors will be responsible for launching the company's suite of non-traded product offerings. Each director brings with them strategic relationships in the independent broker dealer channel that will help grow Highland's non-traded business and expand its reach into new territories. Church joins from Franklin Square Partners where he served as Regional Marketing Director. Hazen joins from BlueRock Real Estate where he served as Regional Vice President for Western regional sales. Helwig joins from Ascendant Capital/KBR Capital Markets where he served as Managing Director and National Sales Manager. Klisares joins from ICON Investments where he served as Regional Vice President for the Midwest region and was responsible for distributing credit funds to independent financial advisors. Selman joins from Dividend Capital Securities where he was Vice President and Regional Director.
