Oman Boosts Border Security with SITA's Future-Proofed Technology

The Government of Oman has deployed border management systems from SITA, to facilitate visitor movement and streamline the Sultanates visa and residence permit processes. The agreement establishes a layered approach to border control, providing the Royal Oman Police with an effective, efficient and flexible visa processing and security clearance process, covering eVisas, Advanced Passenger Processing and Entry Exit Visitor Information systems. The company is providing Oman with a fully integrated border management solution, as well as the tools to manage, monitor and operate its borders effectively. This will enable them to provide the high quality experience at the first point of contact for its visitors, and will be flexible to facilitate future growth. Under the agreement, SITA is deploying an extensive iBorders solution that encompasses risk assessment of traveller data from air and cruise lines, a comprehensive border control system used at immigration checkpoints across Oman, a complete e-Visa solution and a centralized Visitor Information System. The entire solution, which will be fully integrated into the countrys existing border management systems, provides officers with complete information about each individual, such as biometrics and historical information, so they can focus on high-risk travelers and make timely and fully-informed decisions. iBorders will be deployed at 28 airports, seaports and land border crossings across Oman, as well as more than 15 regional offices and more than 50 Omani embassies and consulates located across the world. All this is supported by four data centres, providing scalable capacity and redundancy. In addition, SITA delivers a comprehensive training program to ensure all government users and technical staff have the capability to operate the system.
SITA Technology Transforms Hurghada International Airport

Hurghada International Airport is transforming the passenger experience at its new terminal with airport solutions from SITA. The airport is using SITA’s passenger processing platform, baggage management and airport operations systems to enhance the passenger experience with new self-service options, the latest baggage management solutions and shorter queues. The new solutions are also helping the airport improve operational efficiency by integrating airport systems and providing a single control point for airport operations. SITA has implemented a full range of airport solutions in Hurghada. SITA’s AirportConnect Open passenger processing platform provides the airport with more than 135 common-use workstations and 10 common-use AirportConnect Kiosk self-service kiosks for check-in. With the new platform, all airlines using the airport can access their respective IT applications in real-time on shared equipment. They can also use any airport desk, gate or self-service kiosk for passenger check-in and boarding for maximum flexibility and convenience. SITA’s Airport Management Solution helps integrate and simplify operations management so the airport has a single control point and can take action as needed. This includes an advanced resource management tool, AirportResource Manager, which enables the airport to manage resources and equipment in real time and make sure they are available when and where they are needed. And SITA’s BagManager baggage management system is improving baggage processing efficiency at the airport, while simplifying baggage operations and facilitating on-time departures.
Ellinair Signs Seven-Year Agreement with SITA for Passenger Management

Ellinair has signed a seven-year agreement with SITA, for the Horizon next generation passenger services system to support the airline’s ongoing growth and evolution. The agreement includes core reservations services that will help the airline manage its reservations at airline and partner sales offices, as well as through global distribution systems (GDS), travel distributors and online consumer sites.
