Leighton Welspun Contractors Wins Main Contract for Super Luxury Residential Project in India

Leighton Welspun Contractors has been awarded the main contract to build super luxury residential development 'The Camellias' for DLF in Gurgaon, India, valued at AUD 246 million. The Camellias will occupy a site area of approximately 18 acres and a built up area of 406,000 square metres. The project includes the building of nine tower blocks of between 19 and 38 floors with three continuous basement levels which together will house 431 apartments, including 14 penthouses. Construction will involve a mixture of traditional RCC frames, post tensioned slabs and external GRC structures. Landscaping will include a one-acre lake and a 6,000 square metre deluxe clubhouse facility with an auditorium, pool and gymnasium. The project scope also encompasses fit-out works to a number of apartments and the management and logistics support for the balance of customer fit-out works. Leighton Welspun and DLF have committed to enhanced facilities for the workforce and will provide a dedicated Strive for L.I.F.E - Leighton Incident Free Environment - Training Centre to maximise the education of safety work practices for the workers. The contract will commence in the third quarter of 2013 and will be completed by the third quarter of 2017.
