Beech-Nut Nutrition Company Key Developments

Gerber Products Company, Del Monte Corporation, Beech-Nut Nutrition Corporation Face Lawsuit for Lead Contamination in Products

Gerber Products Company, Del Monte Corporation, Beech-Nut Nutrition Corporation face a trial as some of their food items have been found to be contaminated with miniscule amount of lead. Many baby foods containing carrots, peaches, pears and sweet potatoes have a little amount of lead in them. Lawsuit also covers grape juice and fruit cocktail. The case has been scheduled for Monday. It has alleged Gerber and some other baby food makers that their products contain lead in them. The trial will decide whether the companies must add a warning label for products. Environmental Law Foundation has urged that the case must be taken seriously and the lawsuit must be filed in Alameda County Superior Court in Oakland. Lawyers for these food firms have reported that the products were found to be clean from the U. S. Food and Drug Administration. The products were sold after thorough scrutiny. These products that have been targeted contain the amount of lead far below the standard.
