International Rescue Committee Announces Executive Changes

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) announced the appointment of David Miliband former Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, as its president and CEO, effective September 2013. He will succeed George Rupp, who has led the global humanitarian relief and development organization since stepping down as president of Columbia University in 2002. David Miliband is currently Member of Parliament representing South Shields. He is Co-Chair of the Global Ocean Commission.

George Rupp Plans to Step Down as President of International Rescue Committee

International Rescue Committee announced that George Rupp plans to step down this summer as president of the global humanitarian relief and development organization. Rupp said he plans to remain active professionally after leaving the IRC and is considering his next steps. Rupp joined the IRC after stepping down after nine years as president of Columbia University.
