The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved an operational license to Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited to build and operate a 575 megawatt, MW, power plant in Eket, its operational base in Akwa Ibom state. The Kwale/Okpai IPP project located in Okpai, Ndokwa East local Government Area of Delta state is an integrated combined circle electric power generation plant for the production of 480 MW of electricity. It is made of two gas turbines and one steam turbine.

NUPENG Directs Members to Commence Indefinite Strike to Protest Alleged Plans by Management of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has directed members to begin an indefinite strike in Akwa Ibom state, to protest alleged plans by management of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited to remove members from its workforce. The oil workers union claimed that labour contract staff members in the employment of Mobil had been systematically separated and replaced with new contracts, an action that negates the collective bargaining agreement signed with the union.
