VBMS (UK) LTD and JDR Secure £100 Million Offshore Wind Cabling Contract

VBMS (UK) LTD and JDR secure £100 million offshore wind cabling contract. A £30 million boost is earmarked for JDR, which has been selected as a contractor to supply the offshore array cables for Galloper Wind Farm Limited (GWFL). JDR have been sub-contracted by the project’s array cable installation contractor, VBMS (UK) Ltd, in an overall deal worth around £100 million. JDR will produce 56 sub-sea inter-array cables for the Galloper offshore wind farm, which will be located off the coast of Suffolk. Progress on the offshore wind farm is ramping up ahead of planned construction later this year with the next key milestone being Financial Close. The array cables will be manufactured during 2016, at the company’s Hartlepool facilities in the North East of England, where they have a workforce of over 180 personnel. As a result of the partnership VBMS (UK) Ltd. have confirmed an anticipated growth in their UK workforce with plans to open a second office in the Birmingham area to accommodate their expanding UK activities.

JDR Wins Contract to Supply Subsea Power Cables for the Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm from Dong Energy

DONG Energy has awarded a contract to supply subsea power cables for the Race Bank offshore wind farm to JDR. Additionally, both companies have collaborated on a comprehensive frame agreement for offshore wind farm cable and accessory supply. For this contract, JDR will design and manufacture 110 kilometres of 36 kV inter-array cables and provide offshore testing and termination services. The scope of work also includes the supply of accessories including hang-offs, electrical t-connectors and cable cleats, and the entire system will be manufactured from JDR's facility in Hartlepool, UK.

JDR to Provide Subsea Technology to Rampion Offshore Wind Project in UK

Green Investment Bank and E.ON have awarded a contract to JDR for supplying subsea cabling technology and services for the 400 MW Rampion offshore wind project in the UK. The contract is expected to last for 17 months. Under the terms of the agreement, JDR will be responsible for designing and manufacturing 142 km of 36 kV inter-array cables. JDR will also supply of hang-offs, electrical t-connectors, inner cone connectors, cable cleats and a J-tubeless cable protection system for the project. The last of the lot will be specifically designed to optimize installation time and minimize the potential for cable damage during installation and operation. The company will also pre-commission the entire cabling system at the offshore facility from its manufacturing center in Hartlepool. The wind energy project is expected to be operational in 2018. It will have an annual capacity to generate 1,333 GWh of renewable energy. The facility is likely to meet the energy requirements of around 300,000 homes in the country, once it is commissioned.
