Citibank Nigeria Limited Announces Executive Changes

Citi has named Mr. Akin Dawodu as the chief executive officer of Citi Nigeria, with a charge for him to grow the bank's business in the key African market. Prior to his appointment, the new CEO was the Chief Operating Officer and Public Sector head, and an executive director for Citi Nigeria. Dawodu's appointment was approved by the board of directors of Citibank Nigeria Limited. His appointment has also been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria. He replaces Omar Hafeez who was the MD/CEO of Citi Nigeria for three years. Omar has moved on to the North America Global Subsidiary Group of Citibank in New York and will have leadership responsibility for Citi's GSG franchises in the US and Canada. Dawodu joined Citi in June 2000 as a foreign exchange dealer based in Lagos. He became chief dealer in 2003, before leaving the bank in 2005 to become the first treasurer of MTN Nigeria. Akin became the Chief Operating Officer and public sector head for Citi Nigeria in January 2013.
