The European Chemical Industry Council has appointed Hariolf Kottmann, CEO of Clariant, as it new president. Kottmann will succeed Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, CEO of Solvay, who started his tenure as Cefic president in October 2014.

Cefic has announced the appointment of senior chemical industry expert Cristiana Gaburri as Director of Public Affairs. In her previous role as Cefic's Director for Advocacy she served the Fine Specialty and Consumer Chemicals cluster. In recognition of her achievements, this new role will broaden her area of responsibility and allow her to bring her expertise across Cefic policy areas at large. Cristiana brings strong knowledge of the EU chemical industry, beginning her career as Regulatory Affairs Manager for Procter & Gamble Italy. In this role she built valuable experience in advocacy, strategic planning and comprehensive regulatory affairs from pharma to consumer goods. In a later appointment as European Director for Governmental Relations at Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, she led communication and business interactions with European stakeholders on challenging topics such as safety-efficacy, pricing and medicine reimbursement. She then played a pivotal role during the transfer of the company to Warner Chilcott Pharmaceuticals. Cristiana holds an honours Degree in Chemistry from the University of Perugia and speaks fluent Italian, excellent English and French.
