Heritage Cooperative stated: After extensive discussion and debate, Heritage Cooperative and Legacy Farmers’ Cooperative, at a joint board meeting May 29, 2015, unanimously agreed to and signed a Letter of Intent to enter into negotiations to consider a merger of the two cooperatives. Please note, a Letter of Intent is not a merger, nor is it an obligation to merge. A Joint committee has been formed to further investigate and negotiate a Merger Agreement that must be ratified by the members of both organizations before an actual merger can take place. The Boards of both cooperatives believe a merger has the potential to increase significant sustainable direct benefits for members’ enterprises as well as benefit the communities in which the cooperatives, members, and employees live.
