FreshDirect Announces the Expansion of its Service to the Washington, D.C

FreshDirect announced the expansion of its service to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. FreshDirect will start delivering farm-fresh produce, high-quality meat, seafood, dairy, prepared meals, and grocery and household staples to the doors of residents living in D.C., Arlington and McLean, Virginia and Bethesda, Maryland beginning April 5th, 2017. FreshDirect's focus on sourcing and curating the freshest food combined with the fastest farm-to-fridge delivery has established the company as the market leader in the Northeast, already delivering directly to customers in five states, including the New York City and Philadelphia metropolitan areas. FreshDirect sources directly from an extensive network of farms, fisheries, and suppliers, many of which are located in the Northeast. The launch will expand service to Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., offering more than 12,000 high-quality products and giving D.C.-area residents the chance to try unique fresh items such as jumbo blueberries, source-identified organic chicken, and over 30 premium grass-fed beef items. Additionally, FreshDirect brings to D.C. specialty items, such as Roberta's pizza from Brooklyn, Boar's Head deli meats, and wild-caught albacore tuna from the company's extensive private brand collection, JUST FreshDirect. A wide variety of prepared meals and no-subscription meal kits will also be part of the offering, giving D.C. consumers easier options for dinner. In addition to home delivery, FreshDirect also feeds D.C.'s busy workforce with an 'At The Office' service, which includes chef-prepared breakfasts, luncheon platters perfect for business meetings, catering services for events, and popular brands of snacks, beverages, and pantry items. FreshDirect customers can order next-day delivery in the two-hour window of their choice through web or mobile app as early as 6:30 a.m. through 11:00 p.m. Customers can either pay per order for the service cost of $7.99 with a $40 minimum spend per order or pay an annual fee of $129.00 for unlimited free delivery through DeliveryPass. DeliveryPass members also enjoy exclusive special offers and savings. First-timers can get a 2-month trial for 1 cent.

FreshDirect announced the expansion of FoodKick, its mobile-first, food delivery business that offers a curated selection of fresh food, alcohol, local goods, and everyday essentials–all delivered in as little as an hour. Launched in early 2016, FoodKick has now expanded its service to neighborhoods throughout Manhattan. FoodKick is a strategic addition to FreshDirect’s residential and office businesses, with the combined portfolio poised to meet the full range of customers’ food needs. With the FoodKick mobile iOS and Android apps, customers can shop from a dynamic editorial feed that changes multiple times per day, with hand-picked offerings that include ripe seasonal produce, meal hacks, local favorites, and booze delivered cold. In addition, customers can choose from a broader selection of pantry staples, home essentials, prepared meals, fresh meat and seafood, specialty items, and more. At launch, FoodKick Manhattan will feature content-driven programming with brand partner Coca-Cola in a series of activations highlighting “drinks served cold” messaging, tailored to the on-demand customer. Additionally, a variety of local and exclusive products from partners such as Bien Cuit Bakery, Baked by Melissa, RISE Coffee and Doughnut Plant will be available. Operations in Manhattan will be based at FoodKick’s new Midtown West location with Brooklyn and Queens operations based in the company’s Williamsburg location.
