National Retail Federation Announces Management Changes

The National Retail Federation announced that HSNi CEO Mindy Grossman has been elected chairman of the NRF Board of Directors succeeding Kip Tindell, co-founder and chairman of The Container Store. In addition, seven new members have been elected to the board, and Neiman Marcus Group President and CEO Karen Katz has been named chair of the NRF Foundation. Grossman, who will serve a two-year-term, was elected as the board held its annual winter meeting in New York on January 15, 2017 as part of Retail’s BIG Show. Katz, who will also serve for two years, will succeed Grossman as vice chair of the NRF board in addition to chairing the Foundation. New members of the board include: North Carolina Retail Merchants Association President and CEO Andy Ellen; eBags Co-Founder and Executive Vice President Peter Cobb; Westfield Retail Solutions President Don Kingsborough; Google Inc. Peter Cobb Joins National Retail Federation's Board of Directors

eBags announced that its Co-Founder & EVP Peter Cobb has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Retail Federation (NRF). Peter will serve a three-year term. Mr. Cobb co-founded eBags in 1998 and was essential in creating the original business plan, raising capital and mapping out how a humble startup would become the leading online retailer for the travel goods industry. Peter is past chairman of NRF's Shop.org, the leading trade association for digital retail, and past chairman of the Travel Goods Association, which presented him the TGA Award in 2009 for outstanding service to the travel goods industry.

National Retail Federation announced that Serafin Smith is added to its communications team. Smith joins NRF as senior director of media relations and will be responsible for media relations on topics including retail sales and trends, consumer issues, NRF conferences and promotion of the industry. She comes to NRF from 1-800-Flowers.com, where she worked in media relations for brands under the Great Foods division, and previously worked in communications for Anheuser-Busch.
