FrieslandCampina Plans to Cut 40 Permanent Jobs in Lochem and Veghel, in Netherlands over Coming Three Years
Apr 5 16
FrieslandCampina has conducted research to study the possibilities of improving the methods of working, and increasing efficiency while reducing the costs in its production facilities in Lochem and Veghel, in the Netherlands. With the research, the dairy company aims to achieve significant savings over the next three years, a major part of which can be attained through the enhanced utilisation of the capacity of production lines. FrieslandCampina noted that it can also save more if it reduces the use of materials and energy. The tasks and responsibilities of employees may change leading to the reduction of a number of jobs at various levels. FrieslandCampina may cut a total of 40 permanent jobs at its two locations in the Netherlands over the coming three years. Also, the number of temporary workers and contractual employees is expected to be structurally lowered. Savings at FrieslandCampina's Butter & Milkpowder facility in Lochem, which manufactures butter oil, butter and milk powder, can be primarily achieved by deploying standardised methods of working, reducing material losses, making enhanced use of capacity, as well as lowering the use of energy. Veghel's FrieslandCampina Ingredients facility, which produces milk and whey proteins for the food industry, can also improve its production capacity, along with the reduction of its loss of material and use of energy. These measures will affect 18 permanent and 14 temporary jobs in Lochem that currently employs 216 people, while 22 permanent and 34 temporary employees in Veghel will lose their jobs.
