Degrémont SAS Wins Waterworks Contract for Oil Vessels in Southeast Brazil
Jul 24 13
Suez Environnement through its water services subsidiary Degrémont has been awarded a waterworks contract involving four-water treatment and supply units for vessels involved in offshore oil production in Brazil. The units will be used on two floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels ordered by Tupi BV. Their processes are a key step in the treatment of water for oil production. Two of the modules will provide seawater desalination and the other two will be sulfate removal units designed to treat seawater to be suitable for water injection, helping to avoid clogging of the porous rock reservoirs and contribute to enhanced oil recovery. Keppel FELS Brasil's BrasFELS shipyard in Rio de Janeiro state's Angra dos Reis city is constructing the modules as well as integrating the topside equipment of the FPSOs.
